From the artist: "I completed The Phoenix Rising
in 1990 as I was recovering from a long period of illness. It
has significant personal meaning for me and is one of my favorite
works.
"In Egyptian mythology, the phoenix is a beautiful bird
that lives for 500 years. It builds its own funeral pyre with
wood and spices, sets itself on fire and rises reborn again
from the ashes more beautiful than ever to live for another
500 years. The Phoenix Rising is a symbol for resurrection,
immortality, triumph over adversity and the indomitable power
of the human spirit."
About the artist: Marina Petro is a Visionary Artist
and Intuitive Consultant. She is a self-taught artist. "The
majority of my paintings are created through my imagination.
Painting from my inner world demands existing in the moment
-- responding to impulses and impressions as they arise and
seek external life. My still life pieces and more realistic
landscapes and florals are painted from life. This provides
the dynamic of a visual reference point in the external world--a
radically different experience. One is my internal, spiritual
world brought forth into visibility. The other brings the external
world into, and through me, for expression. Each is a great
adventure, providing unlimited possibilities for creative expression
and discovery.
