Spirit Fest 2001 in Springfield, Mo.
Spirit Fest 2001, a metaphysical fair dedicated to helping all of us come together in a spirit of healing, wisdom and peace, will take place December 1-2 at the Days Inn near I-44 and Glenstone in Springfield.

Spirit Fest 2001 will be an all-ages celebration of music and dance, running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

Musicians and drummers from every nation are invited to gather at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 for a special Drumming and Music Festival.

"Meta" means "after, beyond, higher," and "physical" means "of nature and all matter; material," so "metaphysical" means simply, beyond what's immediately apparent, a higher reality. And isn't the current situation in the world driving all of us on to question things in a deeper, more profound way?

Various metaphysicians and holistic healers will be on hand to help in any way they can, whether it be through a relaxing massage or a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry with your favorite gemstones. Readers of all kinds will also be on hand to help you reveal the messages you're seeking, which may be hidden from all but the most astute.

This is an open invitation to all those who recognize that what is needed is more light and love in the world. Let's come together, and break down the boundaries that have kept us separate for far too long. The time is now, and the place is here.

Community healing
ST. PAUL -- New York Times best-selling author Dr. Chèrie Carter-Scott will present two inspiring workshops -- "Ten Rules for Being Human" and "A Time for Healing, A Time for Courage: a workshop of ideas and tools for personal power" -- in the Twin Cities in November, sponsored by Conscious Living Productions.

An adult workshop will be held at Orchestra Hall on November 14, followed by a teen workshop at LifeTime Fitness in Eagan on November 15.

In a thought-provoking workshop based on her book If Life is a Game, These are the Rules, Chèrie shares insightful "rules" to help you conquer life's challenges and manage unpredictable ups and downs. Refined to help you cope with our nation's recent events, "Ten Rules for Being Human" is a basic list of truths about life. These rules convey a universal truth that can create a more fulfilling life by tapping into the wisdom that lies within you. This program provides practical steps to achieving happiness, passion and acceptance in your life. You will learn awareness, compassion, willingness, flexibility, gratitude, abundance, peace, tolerance, clarity, responsibility (without blame), healing, courage, power, adventure and trust.

Tickets for the adult workshop, $55 and $45, can be purchased through the Orchestra Hall Box Office at (612) 371-5656 or 1 (800) 292-4141.

On Thursday night, November 15, on the basketball court at LifeTime Fitness in Eagan, Chèrie will provide an interactive program that will help bring hope back into the teen's world and help them examine their personal values, abilities and preferences. Based on her recently released book, If High School is a Game, Here's How to Break the Rules, she will motivate, inspire and challenge students to take hold of the universal truths that encourage them to become proactive in their lives.

Before September 11, a 2000 Newsweek poll of 306 teens nationwide revealed that the top fear among teens was violence in society. This workshop provides the handrails to make the journey through uncharted territory make sense. From making choices to learning from their mistakes to defining who they are, these 10 truths clarify what to expect and let teens choose how to deal with the changes.

The workshop is $10 and adults are free when accompanied by a teen. A book signing with Chèrie will follow each workshop. Tickets for the Teen Workshop can be purchased through Conscious Living Productions at (651) 402-7927.
