On February 15, millions of people gathered in more than 600 cities around the globe to protest the impending U.S. war on Iraq -- some in smaller groups, such as those at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, (above © D.J. Jennings, used with permission), and others in much larger groups, such as an estimated 2 million who marched through London (below © Andy Laithwaite, used with permission). People promoting peace rather than war began demonstrating in New Zealand and Australia when the sun rose and they continued throughout the day in time zones across the globe.
