The Assemblage Point of Man: Root of the Soul's Life Experience
by Amy Gan

Various Toltecs, shamans and writers have experientially approached the mysterious Assemblage Point. Authors Carlos Castenada, Jessie Ayani and Ken Eagle Feather have recorded it in written stories and through the oral tradition. It is said that the Assemblage Point allows shamanic practitioners to access and travel other realities by internally maneuvering and moving their assemblage points. These possibilities sound incredulous, mysterious, scary and exciting all at the same time. However, beyond the esoteric, the Assemblage Point is real and has been measured and verified by scientific testing.

Within analogy, the Assemblage Point may be thought of as the soul's kaleidoscope. Turn the kaleidoscope and you see an image of combined light, color and pattern. Turn the kaleidoscope slightly and a different and unique pattern is formed and viewed. Turn it again and another pattern emerges. The assemblage point is like that -- each unique location of it within our body determines how we perceive and how we view life. Each shift or relocation of the assemblage point alters our worldview and perceived reality. Each time its position shifts, our emotional, physical and psychological states also shift and change.

Many shamanic practitioners refer to or describe the Assemblage Point as an "eye" or "lens." In actuality, the assemblage point is an energetic tube or rod of light and energy that runs through our physical and energy body -- the eye or lens shamans refer to is actually the cross-sectional shape of the tube as it enters our body. While shamans use the movement of the Assemblage Point to access other realities, what has often been omitted in their teachings is that the location of the Assemblage Point also affects one's emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual well-being. The location and position of the assemblage point determines how we perceive and experience "reality."

For example, in 1997 I was "diagnosed" with Bi-Polar Disorder by a therapist. Apparently I was "born with" Bi-Polarism and did not know it. It appears to be a genetic chemical disorder that I inherited from my mother.

Most people without history of inherited psychological or chemical disorders do not realize that individuals who are born with specific conditions do not experience life the same way as the average person. To expect an average person to realize the effects of Bi-Polarism is like asking and expecting someone born blind to know what it is like to see colors when you describe them. Such a thing is not possible because they have no point of reference from which to begin. It is the same to ask someone born with Depression, Bi-Polarism or any other congenital psychological-emotional-perceptual ailment to "snap out of it," to do this or do that, take medication, change this or change that, etc. Conventional treatment and medication does not resolve the problem -- it only masks the symptoms, the affliction and cause remains.

In my case, I was prescribed Lithium because I refused artificial medication, but even the lowest dose of Lithium made me feel disconnected and smothered with its thick, fuzzy, unable-to-feel-real, drugged and drunken side effects. I was unable to make even the smallest decisions, because my brain literally could not think; even simple sentences were incomprehensible. Later, I tried quiet meditation to keep things in keel. That helped a little, as meditation trained me to slow down "mental chatter" and helped me notice when high and low cycles were coming on. Meditation kept me moderate during the extreme days but still it demanded constant effort and tremendous discipline to appear socially normal.

Then, I had my Assemblage Point shifted. I remember that day very well.

After exploring endless conventional and holistic healing solutions and attending a plethora of spiritual workshops, I had developed a healthy sense of skepticism. Then, without realizing the possibilities I approached, I attended my first Assemblage Point seminar and had my Assemblage Point shifted. I did not attend the seminar seeking an answer for Bi-Polarism and thought I was attending a spiritual workshop to learn about development of the heart chakra and to explore some interesting spiritual phenomena I was experiencing at the time. During the seminar I learned about the Assemblage Point, its balanced location, and the labels and symptoms that accompany its displacement.

Prior to the workshop, I had never known that my whole body, especially certain muscles involved with posture, compensated for the displacement of the Assemblage Point. When the Assemblage Point moved to heart center (the balanced location) I could feel the muscles in my body breathe a sigh of relief, followed by an immediate change in my body posture. I felt a huge uncontrollable smile come upon my face; I had never realized the weight of burden my body had held in my muscles, which had been locked-in tension and control. When my Assemblage Point was shifted to its original location, the sensation felt like I set down 30 pounds of weight I had been carrying for years without realizing it.

What was even more amazing surfaced over the days and weeks following the shift. Unexpectedly, I experienced no further high or low cycles that were formerly associated with the diagnosed Bi-Polarism. I waited for the surge in my blood that usually preceded a cycle and, a year later, I am still waiting for it but they don't come. I am steady and stable, centered. I used to feel trapped in the prison of my body's chemistry; the shift literally set me free. Now, I am literally able to experience and live a different life and reality.

My miracle and experience of the Assemblage Point shift is not the exception. After realizing the power of the shift in my own life, I decided to enter training to help others in this way. During my apprenticeship as an Assemblage Point Practitioner, I have witnessed many shifts, and in each shift the individual emerged in smiles and/or tears from the release of trapped or blocked energy, and a sense of joy, relief and peace afterwards.

It does take some discipline after one's Assemblage Point has been shifted to a new location to make it "stick" and stay centered in its natural position. The shift needs some time to settle; it's like moving to a new house. It is also important to realize that many of us adjust and either consciously or subconsciously get comfortable and complacent with our dysfunctions -- some of us even get "addicted" to them and may inadvertently miss the afflictions that used to plague us. Others may even manifest traumatic events that cause the Assemblage Point to shift off-center back to its former misalignment.

However, those who stay with the shift to heart center and implement a few simple tools to help them remain centered experience profound life changes that bring them closer to the passions of their soul and life purpose. This possibility transforms to reality as the higher heart chakra is inducted into awakening during the process of the shift which mysteriously connects the soul to the heart and literally allows our heart to "feel" the soul's longing and directly realize its calling and desires.

What a way to live!
